Introduction |

The Puppet Tree House puppetry program is an interactive and hands on event, comprised of demonstration and presentations as well as fun free play. These workshops will introduce students to the art and drama of puppetry. This session is geared directly to the age and maturity level of participating students. The Puppet Tree House experience was developed with a keen awareness that puppets can play a vital role in the creative expression of the students. This program provides an opportunity for students to explore their abilities and learn new skills while having some fun.
Through hands-on practise students will gain a greater understanding of how simple puppets operate. Participants will be encouraged to develop their own puppet voices. |

The Puppet Tree House stage
|
||
The Puppet Tree House will provide everything necessary for students to have a "hands-on" puppet experience. Puppets, props, and a stage will be brought into the classroom for puppet performances. Students will be introduced to a variety of simple and complex puppets. |
All equipment brought in

Students will interact with a lifelike puppet named Rebecca. She will explain how to tell stories and sing songs with just one puppet. Nursery Rhymes, Aesop's fables and other fun stories will provide the story basis for the puppet play. Students will be entertained and amazed by familiar stories. |

"Little Red Riding Hood" |
||
This interactive classroom presentation will demonstrate many of the skills required to have a puppet come alive. Proper puppet wrangling and stage skills will be explored. |

"The Three Little Pigs" |
||
|
With a little help, students will re-enact the story of "The Three Little Pigs" and/or "Goldilocks and The Three Bears". |

Aesop's Fables |
||
|
||
Aesop's fable, "The Tortoise and the Hare" will come to life with fun and excitement. Additionally, students will be able to practice their puppet skills; as they each pretend to be the busy ant searching for food in the fable, "The Ant and the Grasshopper". These well know fables are available as part of The Puppet Tree House workshop experience. |

"The Little Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" |
||
The well-known story of the "Little Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" will be remembered as this 3 foot tall puppet tells this familiar story. She will have the students rolling in laughter as she swallows all the items that are mentioned in the story. This simple fun form of puppetry is great for all ages. |

Underlying Philosophy It is important to the Puppet Tree House that each student has the opportunity to interact with a Variety of puppets. To be encouraged to play and to learn. It is the goal of this event for the students to enjoy their time with the Puppet Tree House and have fun while learning some new skills. |
